With 500 rolling acres in the heart of Carmel Valley—from the banks of Carmel River to the Santa Lucia foothills—there are gorgeous views in just about every direction at Carmel Valley Ranch. What is the best view, though? We’ll share five of our favorite vistas below, but there’s only one true answer to that question: Come find out for yourself!

Harvest Landing
Nestled above our vineyard, Harvest Landing offers stunning views at the heart of The Ranch. There are four acres of pinot noir grapes spanning the hills beneath Valley Kitchen restaurant, so grab a glass of our Swing Reserve and sip amid the vines! After you wine and dine to your heart’s delight, stroll down to the landing, lean back in an Adirondack chair, and lap up the panoramic vistas of the property and Carmel Valley below. After the harvest, but before the vines shed their leaves, our vineyard dazzles in October and November with autumn hues of yellow, orange, and purple. As the sun drops below the hills to the west, Harvest Landing and the valley below are awash in golden light, creating an unforgettable sunset experience.

Sunset Point
As you can imagine, the aptly named Sunset Point is a can’t-miss sunset spot. Hop on the Spur Trail next to the Hilltop Corral, which will lead you along a ridge bursting with aromatic scrub and sage until you reach Sunset Point’s panoramic vista. As you walk out to the point, the corral below, you’ll see animals in the distance—from shaggy Scottish Highland cattle to sleek horses. Keep your eyes peeled as you look to the south for a view of Mount Carmel, rising 4,500 feet above sea level in the Ventana Wilderness of Big Sur. After a chilly winter storm, the peak might even sport some snow, a Monterey County rarity!

Tee #11
You don’t have to go on a hike to get spectacular views at The Ranch! If you prefer working on your handicap to hiking, The Ranch’s 18-hole course (designed by the legendary Pete Dye) offers vistas galore. While we won’t name names, some of Monterey County’s other renowned courses can leave you shivering, soaked, and struggling just to see the flagstick in the fog. Here, we’ve got more than 300 days of sunshine per year—which means the sun is just as abundant as the views (and the birdies) on our course! When you tee off on Hole 11, keep an eye out for herds of deer, flocks of turkeys, and hills dotted with vineyards and olive orchards.

Hilltop Yoga Platform
Tucked above a broad meadow overlooking Robinson Canyon, our yoga platform is the site of one The Ranch’s signature experiences: Hilltop Yoga. In this unique activity, you’ll stroll up the scenic Horseshoe Loop with your instructor until you arrive at the platform. Shaded by stately oaks with sweeping views of a redwood-lined canyon, you couldn’t ask for a better place to find your Zen. The platform is also the perfect spot to experience the seasonal rhythms that mark the Mediterranean climate of The Ranch. As spring turns to summer, lush green gives way to the swaying fields of gold—but no matter the season, the views remain sublime.

Snively’s Ridge
If you want a bird’s-eye view of The Ranch, your spot is Snively’s Ridge. As with all of our hiking trails, you can explore at your own leisure or join one of our naturalist-led hikes for a guided experience. The Ridge View Hike, which starts at the Lodge and ascends to Snively’s Ridge via the Huff ‘n’ Puff and Mucklehead trails, is a 3.5-mile hike of moderate difficulty. You’ll pick up fascinating facts about local flora (such as how the Sticky Monkey Flower got its name) and fauna (like learning to tell the difference between a Turkey Vulture and a Red-Tailed Hawk) in addition to soaking in the fresh mountain air and spectacular views. The Ridge View Hike stops at a scenic turn that gives you a full view of The Ranch, from the tennis courts to lavender fields and everything in between. (Don’t forget the binoculars!)
