The Ranch has a reputation as a family resort because there are so many ways to play here—and we take great pride in that. But families (and travelers of all kinds) today often are drawn to productive play, or activities and experiences that offer the opportunity to learn new things while having fun.
For the kids
Kids in particular are excited for in-person action—after a couple of years of school on a screen, who wouldn’t be? At The Ranch, they can learn about bees in our Organic Garden and apiary, take part in a flora-and-fauna show-and-tell with our naturalist, even spend part of a day seeing what it takes to be a ranch hand! This is a place that helps satisfy the thirst for knowledge that doesn’t come from a book.
For the adults
Who says you can’t teach an older dog new tricks? (No, we didn’t want to call you “old.”) Do some “liquid learning” as you taste some of the world’s finest whiskies with our mixologist. You can even take golf or tennis lessons, and we consider that education, too.
Family fun
Exploring together is important for families, and The Ranch is built for the kinds of experiences that combine inspiration, new knowledge and lasting memories. Many of our activities are great for all ages, and we bet even teenagers will love discovering that a peregrine falcon can hit almost 240 miles per hour as it swoops down toward them (that’s one reason to look up from your smartphone). Other educational endeavors include photography workshops, strolls with our naturalists, and more. You’ll be having so much fun that you just might forget you’re learning something.
Ready, set, learn!
Whether it’s you and your partner or you’re bringing the whole family, it’s easy to add a little learning to your trip to Carmel Valley Ranch. We can’t say for sure that you’ll leave our 500-acre classroom smarter than when you arrived, but it’s a pretty good bet! You can see our activities here.
