Welcome to Carmel! Whether you’re looking for family activities, want to see what it’s like to be a ranch hand, or simply explore the things to do in the surrounding area, we’ve got you covered! Here are five of our favorites from our 500-acre playground and beyond.
See what the buzz is all about
At Carmel Valley Ranch, we’ve got our own herd of animals—but we have insects, too! Our apiary has around a million bees, who make plenty of honey for us to use in products and spa treatments for our guests. But you can do more than taste: You can visit the apiary to learn all about beekeeping, and even suit up to get a closer look at these wonders of nature!
Ready, aim, fire
Looking to try something new? Archery is fun for all ages, and at The Ranch it’s easy to learn! We’ve got programs for kids and beginners, so even if you don’t know what “nock, draw, loose!” means, we’ll help you feel right at home on the range. (Note—this is an activity for before happy hour, not after.)
Find some family fun
You’ll find plenty of action for the whole family in and around Carmel-by-the-Sea—including beaches, surf lessons, restaurants of all kinds, unique shops and boutiques, and cultural sites such as the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmel (you can just call it the “Carmel Mission,” like the locals do.) The city is very walkable, perfect for wearing the kids out before you come back to The Ranch!
Go off-road
Some of the best travel adventures are off the beaten path, so hop on one of our all-terrain vehicles for a guided tour of the most rugged areas of The Ranch! You’ll see a variety of scenic terrain, including beautiful meadows and majestic oaks, and you’re likely to come across some wildlife, too.
Sip and savor California wines
If you’re a wine lover, taking in a tasting (or two, or three) is a must when you’re so close to one of the great wine regions of the world! Carmel has a “Wine Walk” featuring a variety of tasting rooms and wine bars where you can meet winemakers and try some of the best bottles you’ll find anywhere. Cheers!
